Position Overview

Summary

The Multi-Unit Coverage Sandwich Artist is a senior hourly customer-facing role within our restaurant operations. This position performs all standard food preparation duties while also providing regional operational support by covering shortnotice staffing needs across multiple locations.

This role carries a higher rate of pay in recognition of the additional responsibilities, flexibility, and availability required to support up to 12 stores within the Binghamton and surrounding locations. This is a nonexempt, atwill position.

Essential Job Functions

• Greets all guests in a positive and helpful manner.
• Prepares orders based on customer preferences.  
• Prepares food according to the company formula and in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to guests accurately.
• Uses Point of Sale system/cash register (cashier) to record the order and compute the amount of the bill.  
• Collects payment from guests and makes change.
• Checks products in sandwich unit area and restocks items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.
• Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service, and clean up.
• Adhere to all company policies related to safety, sanitation, and workplace conduct

Coverage Responsibilities

• Provide shortnotice coverage for employee callouts or staffing shortages across the Binghamton and surrounding locations (up to 12 stores)
• Travel to different store locations within the region as directed, based on operational need
• Maintain availability and responsiveness consistent with schedule expectations and business requirements
• Collaborate with store supervisors and regional leadership to ensure continuity of operations

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask with the capability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Willingness to learn and adhere to Subway’s policies and procedures.

 

Additional Qualifications

• Prior food service experience required
• Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and strong work ethic
• Ability to adapt quickly to different store environments and teams
• Reliable personal transportation (where travel is required).

 

Schedule & Pay

• Hourly, nonexempt position
• Higher rate of pay reflects expanded regional coverage responsibilities and flexibility
• Hours and schedules vary based on business needs; availability does not guarantee specific hours
• Overtime paid in accordance with applicable state and federal law

Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized point of sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing, and walking. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
